Elyh Harrison: English-South African goalkeeper joins Morton on loan from Man Utd U21

Greenock Morton have signed England and South Africa-eligible goalkeeper Elyh Harrison on loan from Manchester United’s U21 side. The 20-year-old moves to Cappielow Park for the season as he looks to gain first-team experience in the Scottish Championship.

Harrison, who stands at 1.82m, arrives from the Premier League 2 set-up at Old Trafford, where he has been part of United’s youth and development ranks. The temporary switch to Morton offers him a first taste of senior football in a national second tier.

Born on 19 February 2006, Harrison has represented both England and South Africa at youth level eligibility, and is registered with dual nationality. He is regarded primarily as a goalkeeper and will compete for the starting spot in the Championship this term.

Harrison enjoyed success in United’s academy structure, winning the English U18 Youth League title in 2023-24 with Manchester United U18. That campaign formed a key part of his progression into the club’s U21 squad prior to this loan move north.

Morton have tied Harrison to a contract running until 31 May 2027, meaning the club hold his registration beyond the duration of the loan. His current estimated market value stands at around €75,000.

The deal, completed on 28 July 2026, sees Harrison join Morton on a loan transfer from Manchester United U21 for the 2026-27 season.
