Nabil Fekir: France playmaker linked with Abha move after Gulf spell

Nabil Fekir, the France international currently without a club after leaving Al-Jazira, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Abha. The 33-year-old attacking midfielder, who has represented both France and Algeria at youth or heritage level, is exploring options for the new season following the end of his contract in the UAE.

Abha are weighing up a move for the left-footed playmaker as they look to add proven creativity and experience in the final third. Fekir’s current market value is estimated at around €5 million, but with no club attached since 1 July 2026, any deal would be expected to come as a free transfer, reducing the financial barrier to an agreement.

Fekir arrives on the market after a productive spell in the UAE Pro League with Al-Jazira, where he scored 17 goals and provided seven assists in 39 league appearances. He also lifted the UAE League Cup in the 2024-25 season, underlining his continued impact in knockout competitions late in his career.

The Lyon-born midfielder previously built his reputation in Europe with long stints in Ligue 1 and La Liga, notably winning the Spanish Cup with Real Betis in 2021-22. On the international stage he was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018 and later added the UEFA Nations League title in 2021, giving Abha the chance to bring in a player with major-tournament pedigree.

Fekir is free to negotiate and sign immediately, and Abha are one of the first clubs to be seriously linked with an offer as the playmaker assesses his next move.
