Kofi Fosuhene Asare: Sweden-Ghana winger joins Trelleborg on free transfer from Banga

Sweden-Ghana winger Kofi Fosuhene Asare has joined Trelleborgs FF on a free transfer from Lithuanian side Banga. The 24-year-old left winger has signed a deal running until 31 December 2027 with the Ettan Sodra club.

Asare returns to Swedish football after a spell in Lithuania’s top flight, where he featured for Banga in the Toplyga. He moves back into a familiar environment, having come through the youth systems at Hammarby and Djurgarden before earlier senior spells with Sandvikens IF and Landskrona.

Primarily deployed on the left wing and preferring to cut inside onto his right foot, Asare offers Trelleborg pace and width in attack. Standing at 1.71m, he spent the 2026 campaign with Banga, making 15 league appearances, and particularly impressed in the Lithuanian Cup, where he scored twice and registered an assist in a single outing.

The transfer continues a period of frequent moves for Asare. He had joined Banga from Finnish side FC Inter, also on a free transfer, after leaving Landskrona, where he first established himself in the Swedish professional game following a move from Sandvikens IF in 2023.

Born in Tumba on the outskirts of Stockholm, Asare has represented a series of Swedish clubs at youth level, including Hammarby’s academy and Djurgarden’s under-17 and under-19 teams, before stepping into senior football.

Asare’s contract ties him to Trelleborg until the end of the 2027 season, completing his switch from Banga on a permanent free transfer.
