Peter Shalulile: Namibian-South African striker joins Young Africans after Sundowns glory spell

Namibian-South African forward Peter Shalulile has joined Tanzanian giants Young Africans after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, bringing one of Africa’s most accomplished modern goal scorers to the Dar es Salaam club.

The 32-year-old centre-forward, born in Eengolo, arrives as a free agent after his spell in South African football, where he became a dominant figure in front of goal. He has signed on to lead the line for Young Africans as they continue to strengthen their attacking options.

Shalulile, a right-footed striker standing 1.74m tall, moves to Tanzania with an impressive record of success at continental and domestic level. He was part of the Mamelodi Sundowns side that won the CAF Champions League in the 2025-26 season, adding to a packed honours list.

During his time in South Africa, he collected five consecutive league titles, being crowned champion in every season from 2020-21 through to 2024-25 with Sundowns. That period also brought cup success, including the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup in the 2021-22 campaign.

Shalulile has also been a consistent scorer on the biggest stages. He finished as top goal scorer in four major competitions, including the DStv Premiership and the CAF Champions League in 2022-23, underlining his reputation as a reliable finisher in both domestic and continental football.

His performances were further recognised when he was named Player of the Season in South Africa in 2022, and he added the African Football League title with Sundowns in 2023-24.

Shalulile’s move to Young Africans is a completed free transfer, with the striker now beginning a new chapter in East African football.
