Njabulo Blom: South African midfielder joins Borneo FC on free transfer from Nam Dinh FC

South Africa defensive midfielder Njabulo Blom has joined Indonesian side Borneo FC on a free transfer from Vietnam’s Nam Dinh FC.

The 26-year-old, born in Dobsonville, Gauteng, moves to the Indonesian Super League club after a year in Vietnamese football, with the deal completed on 28 July 2026. The transfer comes with Blom currently valued at around €650,000, but Borneo FC have not paid a fee to secure his services.

Blom, a right-footed holding midfielder standing at 1.73m, switches to Indonesia having previously played in Major League Soccer with St. Louis CITY. He first left Kaizer Chiefs for St. Louis in January 2023 for €300,000, later returning to the South African club on loan in September 2024 before his contract in the United States ended.

In South Africa’s top flight, Blom built his reputation with 87 league appearances and six assists, while also gaining experience in continental competition with 15 outings in the CAF Champions League. During his time in MLS he made 42 league appearances and scored twice, adding minutes in the MLS Cup Playoffs and domestic cups.

After moving to Nam Dinh FC on a free transfer in July 2025, Blom now embarks on a new chapter in Indonesia, where he will add top-flight experience from Africa, North America and Asia to Borneo FC’s midfield options. The transfer sees Blom officially registered as a Borneo FC player ahead of the new Super League campaign.
