PSL awards 2025-26: Full list of winners as Keet, Moremi and Mbokazi recognised
Orlando Pirates’ domestic dominance in 2025-26 was underlined on Monday night as the Premier Soccer League confirmed its major award winners, with key contributors from the MTN8, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup campaigns all honoured ahead of the new season.
The ceremony, held later than usual, came just days before the 2026-27 Betway Premiership is due to kick off on Saturday, 1 August, with players and coaches from across the league gathering to close out the previous campaign.
Pirates, who completed a treble last season by lifting the Betway Premiership, MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies, were prominent in the awards list, while Nedbank Cup winners Durban City and champions Mamelodi Sundowns were also represented.
The headline prize of PSL Footballer of the Season is set to be decided between three standout performers from last term: Oswin Appollis, Relebohile Mofokeng and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena. The trio are in contention for the league’s most prestigious individual accolade after influential campaigns for their respective clubs.
Although the overall Footballer of the Season winner was still to be confirmed on the night, the Premier Soccer League announced several key tournament and development awards.
Cup competition honours
Durban City’s historic Nedbank Cup success was reflected in the individual recognition for their goalkeeper Darren Keet, who was named Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament. Keet’s performances were central to Durban City’s cup run as they went on to lift the trophy.
The Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament award went to TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi, acknowledging his emergence as one of the competition’s standout young talents.
Orlando Pirates’ impact in the domestic cups was also formally recognised. Tshepang Moremi received the MTN8 Last Man Standing award, given to the best player across the MTN8 competition, after playing a key role in Pirates’ successful title defence.
In the Carling Knockout, another Pirates player took centre stage. Mbekezeli Mbokazi was named Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament following a series of decisive displays that helped the Buccaneers add a further piece of silverware to their 2025-26 haul.
Development recognition for Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns, who pushed Pirates hard in the league and remain a dominant force in South African football, were represented in the youth ranks. Bennet Mokoena was named DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season, underlining Sundowns’ continued strength in player development.
The awards ceremony, staged in the build-up to the 2026-27 Betway Premiership season, formally brought the curtain down on a campaign in which Pirates swept three major domestic titles, Durban City captured the Nedbank Cup, and a new generation of players made their mark across league and cup competitions.
