Joseph Adjei: Ghanaian defender at Al-Khaboura SC linked with Samaleswari SC move

Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Adjei of Al-Khaboura SC is being linked with a move to Indian side Samaleswari SC as he approaches the end of his current contract in Oman.

The 30-year-old, born in Accra and standing at 1.89m, is out of contract on 30 May 2026, a timeline that leaves Al-Khaboura facing a decision over whether to cash in or risk losing him for free. Adjei joined the Omani club in January 2026 and has since established himself in the heart of their defence, operating primarily as a right-footed centre-back.

Samaleswari SC are exploring defensive reinforcements and see Adjei’s contractual situation and experience across multiple leagues as an opportunity. His current market value is listed at around €150,000, a figure that would make any deal relatively accessible compared with many overseas options.

Adjei’s career has included a series of notable honours, most recently winning the Indian championship in 2024 with Mohammedan SC in Kolkata. That stint in India could prove significant should talks with Samaleswari progress, with the defender already familiar with the country’s footballing landscape and conditions.

He previously collected domestic cup titles in South Africa with Cape Town City in 2016-17 and in Syria with Al-Ahli SC in 2022, underlining a track record of contributing to successful teams in diverse environments.

For now, Adjei remains an Al-Khaboura player, with his immediate future shaped by whether the Omani club choose to negotiate an extension or open the door to a move as his contract winds down.
