Senegal star Ibrahim Mbaye responds after claims about family and career management

Paris Saint-Germain and Senegal forward Ibrahim Mbaye has publicly rejected allegations surrounding his family and the management of his career, describing them as “slander” after journalist Romain Molina published claims about the 18-year-old’s entourage.

The controversy began after Molina released a video on Sunday in which he raised concerns about Mbaye’s situation off the pitch.

The journalist alleged that the young forward had been represented by three different agencies in less than a year before joining Jorge Mendes’ agency and claimed the player had never communicated directly with the renowned representative.

Molina also alleged there had been legal proceedings involving the player, behavioural issues at both PSG and during Senegal’s World Cup campaign, and financial demands made by Mbaye’s parents that were considered excessive.

Those claims remain allegations made by Molina and have not been substantiated within the information available.

According to the journalist, the situation surrounding Mbaye’s family could affect the progress of a player whom he described as someone “who has everything to go very far.”

Mbaye responded shortly afterwards through an Instagram Story, although the post was later deleted.

“It’s fascinating how people can slander my family and me,” the Senegal international wrote.

“There is a God, God will make things right for these people. […] Mom, Dad, I love you.”

The message was a clear show of support for his parents but did not specifically address the individual allegations raised in Molina’s report.

The exchange continued after Molina published photographs that he said showed Mbaye’s parents wearing an Aston Villa shirt bearing the player’s name and another image of them inside a Chelsea hospitality box.

The journalist presented the pictures as evidence suggesting there had been behind-the-scenes contact linked to a possible move to the Premier League.

However, the images alone do not establish the broader allegations concerning financial demands or the conduct of those close to the player.

It also remains unclear whether Mbaye was aware of any actions attributed to his parents.

For the 18-year-old forward, attention will now turn back to football as he looks to ensure the controversy does not overshadow his future at Paris Saint-Germain, where his long-term prospects remain uncertain.
