Mady Abonckelet: Franco-Senegalese midfielder joins Reggina on free transfer from Vado
Franco-Senegalese midfielder Mady Abonckelet has joined Italian side Reggina from Vado on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old central midfielder makes the switch within the Italian league system, leaving Serie C outfit Vado to link up with Reggina, who currently compete in Serie D. The deal is a permanent move, with no transfer fee involved.
Abonckelet, who holds both French and Senegalese nationality, has been valued at around €50,000, underlining Reggina’s decision to add him to their midfield without paying a fee. His arrival strengthens the Calabrian club in the centre of the pitch as they reshape their squad for the new campaign.
The move marks a change of direction for Abonckelet after his spell at Vado, where he had been operating in Italy’s third tier. Stepping into a new environment at Reggina, he brings experience of Italian football and the demands of a competitive league structure.
Reggina will now look to integrate the 28-year-old into their plans as they prepare for the coming season, with Abonckelet set to occupy a central midfield role following his free transfer from Vado.
