Adama Ballo: Mali defender joins Al-Hedod SC from Al-Ramadi in Iraq Stars League move

Mali centre-back Adama Ballo has joined Al-Hedod SC from fellow Iraqi side Al-Ramadi, strengthening the Baghdad club’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The 30-year-old moves within the Iraq Stars League after a short spell at Al-Ramadi, where he arrived earlier in 2026.

Ballo, a right-footed central defender standing at 1.87m, completed his switch on 26 July 2026 and has already featured for his new club, playing the full 90 minutes in an Iraq Stars League fixture. His early involvement underlines the expectation that he will be a frontline option at the heart of Al-Hedod’s back line.

The Malian has built up extensive experience across Middle Eastern and African football over the past decade. Before his time at Al-Ramadi, he represented Al-Fahad and Naft Al-Wassat, having earlier played for Erbil SC following a move from Al-Hilal. His career has also included spells with Al-Jahra and Burgan SC, as well as Al-Sadaqa SC after leaving Kaloum, where he arrived from Real in 2017.

Now entering what should be the prime years of his career, Ballo links up with an Al-Hedod side competing domestically and with ambitions to make an impact in regional competitions, including the CAF Champions League, where he is available for selection.

Ballo’s arrival from Al-Ramadi completes another piece of Al-Hedod SC’s squad-building as the Iraqi club reshapes its defence for the 2026-27 season.
