Rayane Messi: Strasbourg’s Franco-Cameroonian winger linked with move to FC Luzern

Rayane Messi, the France and Cameroon-eligible left winger currently at RC Strasbourg Alsace, is being linked with a summer move to Swiss Super League side FC Luzern. The 19-year-old is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2030, but Luzern are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to add attacking depth on the flanks.

Messi returned to Strasbourg this summer after a loan spell in Saudi Arabia with NEOM SC, where he made 13 league appearances and recorded one goal and one assist. Prior to that, he had a productive stint in Ligue 2 with Pau FC, scoring twice in 14 league outings, experience that has helped raise his profile beyond France.

Strasbourg only promoted Messi from their B team to the first-team squad in July 2025, a year after signing him from Dijon’s under-19s in a deal worth €1.5 million. His market value has since climbed to €2.8 million as of early June, reflecting a rapid increase over two seasons that have included senior minutes in France’s professional leagues and abroad.

The winger, who was born in Sevres and stands at 1.75m, is naturally right-footed but operates from the left, a profile that fits Luzern’s search for wide options. While Strasbourg have him tied down on a long-term deal, his recent sequence of loans suggests the club could be open to further movement if the terms are attractive enough. For now, though, Messi remains a Strasbourg player with four years left on his contract.
