Samuel Bamba: VfL Bochum winger linked with Maritimo move

Samuel Bamba, the Germany/DR Congo right winger currently at VfL Bochum, is being strongly linked with a move to Portuguese side Maritimo. The 22-year-old, who wears the No 25 shirt for the 2. Bundesliga club, is the subject of an advanced rumoured deal, with the likelihood of a transfer being rated at 93 per cent.

Bamba only joined Bochum on 1 July 2024 and is under contract until 30 June 2027, meaning Maritimo would have to negotiate a fee rather than target a free transfer. His current market value is estimated at around €350,000, a figure that provides a reference point for any talks between the German and Portuguese clubs.

Born in Ahlen on 13 February 2004, Bamba has developed as an attacking right winger and is comfortable on either foot, attributes that give him flexibility across the front line. He has experience in German youth football at the highest level, having been part of the Borussia Dortmund Under-19 side that won the German Under-19 Bundesliga in 2021-22.

That Dortmund generation also dominated regionally, with Bamba contributing to back-to-back German Under-19 Bundesliga West titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23. His performances at youth level helped pave the way for his step into senior football and his subsequent move to Bochum.

Bamba is currently tied to Bochum for another year beyond this season, and any deal with Maritimo would need to reflect his contractual security in Germany.
