Kojo Peprah Oppong: Ghana and Nice centre-back linked with Trabzonspor move

Ghana defender Kojo Peprah Oppong of Nice is being linked with a summer move to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor as the French club face growing interest in the 22-year-old centre-back.

Oppong, who has a contract in place at Nice until 30 June 2029, is understood to be attracting attention after establishing himself in Ligue 1 last season, making 29 league appearances and scoring once. His form in France has coincided with a rise in valuation, with the defender now rated at around €10m.

Trabzonspor are exploring defensive reinforcements and have identified Oppong, a right-footed centre-back born in Accra, as a potential target. Any deal is likely to be complex given the length of his current contract on the Cote d’Azur and Nice’s investment in bringing him to the club.

Nice signed Oppong from Swedish side Norrkoping in July 2025 for a fee of €2.68m, following consistent performances in Sweden’s top two tiers and domestic cup competitions. Since moving to France he has added European experience, featuring in both the Europa League and Coupe de France.

On the international stage, Oppong has broken into Ghana’s senior set-up and was part of their squad at the 2026 World Cup, making two appearances at the tournament. His involvement on that stage has further raised his profile among clubs across Europe.

For now, Oppong remains a Nice player with three years left on his deal, and the French club are under no pressure to sell as Trabzonspor assess whether to turn their interest into a formal approach.
