Kojo Peprah Oppong: Ghana defender at Nice linked with Trabzonspor move

Ghana centre-back Kojo Peprah Oppong of Nice is being linked with a summer move to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor as the French club weigh up interest in one of their most valuable young defenders.

The 22-year-old, born in Accra and under contract on the Cote d’Azur until 30 June 2029, has seen his market value rise to €10m after establishing himself in Ligue 1, prompting Trabzonspor to explore a potential deal. Any move is likely to require a significant fee, with Nice in a strong bargaining position given the length of his contract.

Oppong joined Nice from Swedish side Norrkoping in July 2025 for €2.68m and has since broken into the first team, making 29 Ligue 1 appearances and scoring once. His development has also taken him onto the European stage, adding Europa League minutes to his resume over the past season.

On the international scene, the right-footed defender has broken into the Ghana set-up and featured at the 2026 World Cup, making two appearances at the tournament. That exposure has added to growing interest from clubs outside France.

Trabzonspor are understood to be targeting defensive reinforcements from overseas leagues, with Oppong’s experience in Sweden and France seen as a useful blend of backgrounds. However, with Nice having invested in his development and tied him down to a long-term deal, the Ligue 1 club are under no pressure to sell and would be in a position to demand a premium should negotiations advance.
