Egypt’s Mohamed Salah reportedly chooses shirt number ahead of Besiktas move

Egypt forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly closing in on a move to Turkish giants Besiktas, with local reports claiming the veteran attacker has already decided the shirt number he would wear if the transfer is completed.

Turkish journalist Levent Umit Erol says Salah has chosen the club’s number 11 shirt as negotiations over a proposed switch to Istanbul continue.

Writing on X, Erol insisted the deal remains on course.

“I still stand by what I have said in all my posts, Salah will be the number 11 shirt owner at Besiktas.”

Transfer preparations underway

Erol also claimed promotional activities linked to Salah’s proposed arrival are already being planned.

According to the journalist, advertising campaigns sponsored by Turkish Airlines would feature Besiktas’ eagle symbols and branding, while senior figures within the Turkish government are also expected to play a role in helping finalise the transfer.

He ended his update with a confident message to supporters.

“Besiktas fans, rest assured you will get Salah.”

Reported contract details

Turkish outlet Haber S Balıkesir reports that Besiktas have offered the Egyptian international a two-year contract.

The proposed deal is said to include a guaranteed annual salary of €15 million, with performance-related bonuses worth an estimated €4 million.

While neither Besiktas nor Salah has publicly commented on the reports, speculation over the Egyptian star’s future continues to grow as the Turkish club push to secure one of Africa’s biggest footballing names.
