Omar Megeed: Egypt-Germany attacking midfielder linked with Greuther Furth move
Egypt-Germany attacking midfielder Omar Megeed, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to 2. Bundesliga side Greuther Furth. The Franconian club are monitoring the 20-year-old as they assess options to strengthen their attacking midfield ahead of the new campaign.
Megeed became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after leaving Hamburger SV II and could therefore join Furth without a transfer fee. His current estimated market value stands at around €150,000, a figure that is expected to make any potential deal relatively low-risk in financial terms for the second-tier outfit.
Born in Hamburg in August 2005 and standing at 1.93m, Megeed has spent his entire youth and early senior career in the HSV system. He progressed from HSV’s youth ranks through the U17 and U19 sides before stepping up to the first team squad and then Hamburger SV II. He has made 69 appearances in the Regionalliga Nord, recording three goals and seven assists, and also featured briefly in the 2. Bundesliga with two senior league appearances.
Megeed, who plays primarily as an attacking midfielder and prefers his right foot, represents a profile familiar with German football and second-tier demands, having already been integrated into a professional environment at Hamburg.
Furth have yet to formalise any agreement, and talks are understood to remain at an exploratory stage, with Megeed still a free agent and open to offers as he weighs up the next step in his career.
