Burkina Faso defender Rachid Barro joins Šamorín on loan to continue development

Burkina Faso defender Rachid Sande Barro has left DAC Dunajská Streda to join Slovak second division side ŠTK Šamorín on loan as he looks to gain more playing time and continue his development.

The 19-year-old’s departure was officially confirmed by DAC Dunajská Streda through the club’s Instagram account, with the young left-back set to spend the 2026/27 season with Šamorín.

Barro arrived at DAC with hopes of making an impact in Slovakia’s top flight, but his first season was disrupted by injuries and limited opportunities.

The loan move has been arranged to provide him with regular football and valuable experience away from the pressure of competing in the Nike Liga, Slovakia’s first division.

Šamorín is viewed as a suitable destination for the former RC Kadiogo player as he aims to continue his progress and develop his abilities before returning to DAC Dunajská Streda.

Despite struggling for consistent game time last season, Barro still managed to make appearances for the club. The defender featured in three league matches and two Slovak Cup games, scoring one goal during his limited opportunities.

The loan agreement will allow the Burkina Faso youngster to gain more competitive minutes and build confidence as he adapts to senior football.

DAC remain committed to his long-term development, with the expectation that he can return as a stronger and more experienced player.

Barro joined DAC Dunajská Streda less than a year ago, but his move to Šamorín represents an important step in his young career. The Slovak second division side will provide him with the chance to play regularly and continue improving his performance on the pitch.

The former RC Kadiogo player is currently under contract with DAC, where he remains part of the club’s future plans. His current market value is estimated at €50,000 by Transfermarkt.

With the new season approaching, Barro will now focus on making the most of his loan spell at ŠTK Šamorín, with the aim of returning to Dunajská Streda ready for a bigger role in the future.
