Sory Diarra: Mali forward at Haugesund linked with Hajduk Split move

Mali striker Sory Diarra of Haugesund is attracting interest from Croatian side Hajduk Split, with the SuperSport HNL club monitoring a potential move for the in-form centre-forward.

Diarra, 26, has been one of the standout players in Norway’s OBOS-ligaen this season, scoring 20 goals and providing two assists in 14 league appearances. He has started every match and been involved in more than half of Haugesund’s goals, a level of output that has drawn attention from outside Norway.

Hajduk’s interest comes with Diarra under contract at Haugesund until 31 December 2026, meaning any deal would require the Croatian club to negotiate a transfer fee rather than target a cut‐price exit. The Malian is currently valued at around €800,000, and Haugesund are under no immediate pressure to sell given his importance to their attack.

Diarra joined Haugesund in February 2023 from Romanian side Petrolul, where he had previously made his name by winning the Liga 2 title in 2021-22 and finishing as the division’s top scorer with 15 goals. That season in Romania marked him out as a reliable finisher, and his current scoring run in Norway has reinforced his reputation.

Standing at 1.87m and operating as a traditional centre-forward, the right-footed Diarra wears the No 29 shirt for Haugesund and has become a key figure since his arrival from Petrolul. For now he remains under a long-term deal with the Norwegian club, who hold a strong negotiating position as interest from Hajduk Split develops.
