Neil El Aynaoui: Man Utd Eye Move for Roma’s Franco-Moroccan Midfielder

Neil El Aynaoui, the Franco-Moroccan central midfielder currently at Roma, has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United as the Premier League club step up plans to reinforce their midfield options.

The 25-year-old, who is eligible for both Morocco and France, is understood to be on United’s shortlist as they assess summer targets from Serie A and beyond. Initial discussions have focused on Roma’s valuation, with El Aynaoui currently rated at around €30m, a figure that would represent a significant outlay but not an outlier in the current Premier League market.

El Aynaoui is under contract at Roma until 30 June 2030, leaving the Italian side in a strong negotiating position and under no pressure to sell. Any deal is therefore likely to require United to commit to a substantial fee and a long-term project around the player, rather than an opportunistic purchase.

The midfielder has established himself in Roma’s central unit, with his performances in Serie A drawing increasing attention from clubs outside Italy. United’s interest aligns with a broader recruitment drive focused on players in their mid‐20s who can contribute immediately while retaining resale value.

Roma, for their part, are aware that a long contract and a defined market valuation place them firmly in control of the situation. Unless United are prepared to meet those conditions, El Aynaoui is expected to continue as a key part of the Roma midfield beyond this summer, backed by the security of a deal running through to the end of the 2029-30 season.
