Senegal international midfielder Idrissa Gueye is set to leave Everton and complete a move to Saudi Pro League newcomers Al-Diriyah ahead of the new football season.

The experienced midfielder has reached an agreement with the Saudi club over a one-year contract, with an option to extend the deal for an additional season.

The transfer is expected to be finalised soon, bringing an end to Gueye’s latest spell with Everton, where he established himself as a key figure in the midfield following his return to the club.

Gueye, 36, has enjoyed a distinguished career across Europe, featuring prominently for clubs including Lille, Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain and Everton.

His performances have also made him a vital member of the Senegal national team, helping the Teranga Lions secure their first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2022.

The move to Al-Diriyah represents another high-profile arrival to Saudi football, which continues to attract experienced players from Europe as clubs strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Al-Diriyah are expected to officially announce the signing once all formalities of the transfer are completed.
