Amara Nallo: England defender joins HJK Helsinki on loan from Liverpool U21
England and Sierra Leone-eligible centre-back Amara Nallo has joined Finnish champions HJK Helsinki on loan from Liverpool U21. The 19-year-old defender moves to the Veikkausliiga side in a temporary deal as he looks to gain first-team experience in senior football.
Nallo arrives in Helsinki from Liverpool’s under-21 set-up, where he has been developing within the Premier League 2 structure. A central defender by trade, he will now step into a top-flight environment in Finland, with HJK regularly competing at the highest domestic level and pursuing European qualification each season.
The move represents a significant change of setting for Nallo, who has been based in England throughout his youth development. By switching from Premier League 2 football to the Veikkausliiga, the teenager will be exposed to senior competition and the demands of a professional first-team schedule.
HJK have secured Nallo at a time when the club will be targeting domestic honours and maintaining their status at the top of the Finnish game. His market value is currently listed at around €1 million, underlining the level of expectation surrounding his progression as he makes this step.
The agreement sees Nallo remain contracted to Liverpool while spending the upcoming period in Helsinki, with the loan transfer officially completed on 24 July 2026.
