Presnel Kimpembe: Former PSG and France defender linked with Al-Kharaitiyat move

Presnel Kimpembe, the France and DR Congo defender currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Qatari Second Division side Al-Kharaitiyat. The 30-year-old centre-back is available as a free agent after leaving Qatar SC at the start of July and is understood to be considering continuing his career in Qatar.

Kimpembe’s potential switch would keep him in a league he already knows, having spent last season with Qatar SC following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in September 2025. He made nine league appearances in the Stars League for the Doha-based club, adding experience to a side competing outside Europe’s top competitions.

The left-footed centre-back enjoyed a highly decorated spell at PSG, where he progressed from the youth ranks to the first team and went on to win the UEFA Champions League in the 2024-25 season. Domestically, he collected multiple Ligue 1 titles and French cups during more than a decade with the club across various levels.

On the international stage, Kimpembe was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018 and later lifted the UEFA Nations League in 2021, achievements that underline the pedigree Al-Kharaitiyat are weighing up as they explore a deal. His current market value is estimated at around €3 million, but any agreement would be expected to come without a transfer fee.

Kimpembe has been unattached since 1 July 2026, leaving him free to negotiate terms immediately as Al-Kharaitiyat assess whether to add a World Cup winner to their defensive options.
