Adam Ounas: Algeria winger and free agent linked with Avellino move

Adam Ounas, the Algeria international currently without a club after leaving Al-Shamal SC, is being linked with a move to Serie B side Avellino. The 29-year-old, who plays primarily as a right winger, is available on a free transfer and is understood to be under consideration as Avellino explore experienced attacking options for the new campaign.

Ounas became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following the end of his spell in Qatar, where he most recently represented Al-Shamal after joining them from Al-Sailiya in January 2026. His current market valuation stands at around €1.3m, a figure that could make a short-term deal financially accessible for a second-tier Italian club.

The French-born wide player is no stranger to Italian football, having spent several seasons in Serie A with Napoli and on loan at Cagliari and Crotone. Across his time in the division he made 64 Serie A appearances, scoring seven goals and adding four assists, experience that is likely to appeal to Avellino as they look for proven depth in wide areas.

Ounas also brings a high-level pedigree, having been part of the Algeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 and later collecting an Italian league title with Napoli in the 2022–23 season. His best work has often come cutting in from the right onto his left foot, and he has shown an eye for goal in European competition with four goals in 13 Europa League outings.

For now, Ounas remains unattached and free to negotiate, with Avellino among the clubs monitoring his situation as the winger weighs up his next move.
