Kings Kangwa: Panathinaikos sign Zambia midfielder from Hapoel Beer Sheva in €4m deal

Panathinaikos have signed Zambia midfielder Kings Kangwa from Hapoel Beer Sheva in a €4m permanent transfer. The 27-year-old central midfielder has agreed a contract with the Greek Super League side until 30 June 2030.

Kangwa arrives in Athens on the back of an outstanding spell in Israel, where he was named Footballer of the Year in 2026 after scoring 12 goals for Hapoel Beer Sheva. He helped the club win the Israeli league title in 2025-26, adding to an Israeli Cup win in 2024-25 and the Israel Super Cup in 2025-26.

The Kasama-born player only joined Beer Sheva in July 2024 from Red Star Belgrade, who had paid €1.5m to sign him from Arsenal Tula in 2022. His value has since risen to €3.8m, reflecting his impact in both domestic and European competition.

A right-footed central midfielder standing at 1.70m, Kangwa has also shown a knack for scoring in big matches. He struck in Champions League qualifying and the Israeli Super Cup earlier in his career, and was top scorer in the 2022-23 Serbian Cup with three goals for Red Star.

Before moving to Serbia, Kangwa’s first move to Europe came in 2019 when he joined Russian side Arsenal Tula from Zambian club Buildcon FC. He has since collected league titles in both Serbia and Israel and twice lifted the Serbian Cup with Red Star.

Kangwa now links up with Panathinaikos on a long-term deal running to 2030 after completing his move from Hapoel Beer Sheva.
