Bilal Nadir: Morocco midfielder joins Hamburg on free transfer from Marseille

Hamburg have signed Morocco midfielder Bilal Nadir from Marseille on a free transfer, handing the 22-year-old a contract until 30 June 2030. The left-footed central midfielder, who was born in Nice and also holds French nationality, joins the newly promoted Bundesliga side ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Nadir switches to Germany after leaving Marseille at the end of his deal, ending a five-year spell with the French club. He steps into the Hamburg squad with the number 4 shirt and a current market valuation of €8 million, underlining the scale of business for a player acquired without a transfer fee.

Primarily operating in central midfield, the 1.79m Nadir moved from Marseille’s B team to the first team in 2023, having initially joined their academy setup from Nice’s youth ranks in 2021. His development in Ligue 1 and the French youth system has established him as a senior professional ready for a first move abroad.

The transfer marks Nadir’s first club outside France, following earlier spells with OGC Nice’s youth sides and Marseille at both reserve and senior level. He now commits the peak years of his career to Hamburg under a four-year agreement.

Nadir’s free-transfer move from Marseille to Hamburg is effective immediately, with his long-term deal in Germany running through to the summer of 2030.
