Mohamed Keita: French-Malian defender joins SO Romorantin on free transfer from US Orleans B
French-Malian centre-back Mohamed Keita has joined SO Romorantin on a free transfer from US Orleans B. The 19-year-old defender makes the move within National 2 Group H, switching clubs on 23 July 2026.
Keita, who was born in Suresnes and stands at 1.89m, is a left-footed central defender and becomes one of the youngest additions to Romorantin’s back line. The transfer ends his spell at US Orleans, where he progressed from youth to senior regional level.
Having initially moved from Paris FC’s youth set-up to US Orleans’ under-19s in 2024, Keita stepped up to Orleans’ B team the following season. His performances across youth and National 2 football have now earned him a place in Romorantin’s squad as they prepare for the new campaign.
Keita has built up competitive experience despite his age, featuring regularly in French youth and lower-league competitions. He has made appearances in National 2, Ligue 3 and the Coupe de France, while also standing out at under-19 level with 22 games and five goals in one National U19 campaign.
Eligible for both France and Mali, Keita has spent his entire career to date in the French system, developing through Nanterre and Paris FC’s youth ranks before his move to Orleans. His arrival offers Romorantin another option in central defence as they look to navigate a demanding National 2 season.
The deal sees Keita join SO Romorantin on a free transfer from US Orleans B ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
