Khalil Sassi: Tunisia defender joins AS Soliman on free transfer from Stade Gabesien
Tunisia centre-back Khalil Sassi has joined AS Soliman on a free transfer from Stade Gabesien.
The 31-year-old defender has signed a contract with Soliman running until 30 June 2028 after leaving Stade Gabesien at the end of last season. The move keeps Sassi in Tunisian football, where he has built a lengthy career across the top flight and domestic cup competitions.
A left-footed central defender standing at 1.85m, Sassi brings significant Ligue 1 experience to his new club. He has made more than 80 appearances in the Tunisian top division, scoring three goals and contributing two assists, as well as featuring in the Tunisian Cup, where he has added another goal to his tally.
Sassi joined Stade Gabesien in August 2025 following a spell abroad with Busaiteen Club. Before that, he represented a series of Tunisian sides including CS Chebba and CA Bizertin, having moved between them mostly on free transfers as his career progressed. Earlier stints at Olympique Beja and Club Africain helped establish him as a regular performer in domestic competition.
The move to AS Soliman marks the latest step in a career that has seen Sassi accumulate over 8,500 minutes of competitive football across league and cup matches in Tunisia. He now commits the next two seasons to Soliman as they look to strengthen their defensive options with an experienced domestic recruit.
