Newly-promoted National First Division side Hope FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced midfielder Miguel Timm following his departure from Cape Town City.

The former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United midfielder joins Hope FC as the club prepares for the challenges of competing in South Africa’s second tier after earning promotion.

Timm became available after being released by Cape Town City at the end of the campaign, following the club’s unsuccessful attempt to secure promotion back to the Betway Premiership.

The 32-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Hope FC, having spent several years competing at the highest level of South African football. His arrival is expected to add leadership, tactical awareness and stability to a team looking to make a strong impression in the National First Division.

Announcing the signing, Hope FC expressed their excitement at securing the services of the experienced midfielder and highlighted the qualities he will bring to the squad.

“We’re delighted to announce the signing of Miguel Timm,” the club said in an official statement.

“Bringing years of PSL experience, composure and leadership, Miguel adds another important piece to what we’re building at Hope FC.

“Welcome back to the Mother City. We wish you every success in the black and red. Let’s get to work.”

Timm’s career has been built on consistency and professionalism, with the midfielder earning recognition for his ability to control the tempo of matches, break up opposition attacks and provide composure in midfield.

During his time with Orlando Pirates, Timm played a key role in the Buccaneers’ midfield setup, contributing his experience and discipline as the club competed for domestic honours and continental success. He also previously represented Sekhukhune United, where he further established himself as one of the reliable midfielders in the Premier Soccer League.

His move to Hope FC represents a return to the Mother City and a fresh opportunity to continue his career while helping guide a newly promoted side through the demands of the National First Division.

Hope FC have been active in building a competitive squad ahead of the new season, and the addition of a player with Timm’s experience is seen as a significant boost to their ambitions.

With his leadership qualities and extensive PSL background, Timm is expected to play an important role both on and off the pitch as Hope FC aim to establish themselves in the division and pursue further progress in South African football.

The midfielder will now begin preparations with his new teammates as Hope FC turn their attention towards a challenging campaign filled with new expectations and ambitions.
