Newly promoted Diriyah have confirmed the signing of former Al Ittihad and Al Nassr goalkeeper Amin Al-Bukhari on a free transfer as they continue building their squad for their debut season in the Saudi Pro League.

The club, who have just reached the top flight for the first time in their history, announced the deal via their official account on X, confirming that the Saudi goalkeeper joins as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Al Fateh.

Diriyah moved for Al-Bukhari after failing in an attempt to land fellow Saudi international goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais, who instead completed a move to Al Hilal earlier in the summer window.

Fourth summer signing for promoted Diriyah

Al-Bukhari, 29, becomes Diriyah’s fourth signing of the current transfer window as the club look to bolster their squad ahead of their maiden campaign in the Saudi Pro League, known as Roshn Saudi League.

He follows defender Saeed Al-Rubaie, recruited from Al Okhdood, winger Hattan Bahebri, signed from Al Kholood, and Senegalese midfielder Clayton Diandy, who arrives from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki.

Diriyah did not disclose the length or financial terms of Al-Bukhari’s contract, but stressed that the deal was completed on a free transfer after his departure from Al Fateh at the end of last season.

Seventh Saudi club for Al-Bukhari

The move to Diriyah marks the seventh club of Al-Bukhari’s career in Saudi football.

He has previously represented Al Ittihad, Al Ain, Al Ettifaq, Damac and Al Fateh, and was also on the books of Al Nassr between 2020 and 2025, remaining under contract with the Riyadh giants during that five-year spell.

Across those stints he has gained extensive experience in the Saudi league structure, including time as both a starter and back-up goalkeeper, which Diriyah will hope can provide stability at the back as they step up to the top tier.

Historic season ahead

Diriyah are preparing for what will be a landmark campaign, having secured promotion to the Roshn Saudi League for the first time.

They clinched their place in the top flight by defeating Al Ula in the final of the promotion play-off from the First Division League, known commercially as the Yelo League.

That victory completed a breakthrough season for the club and set up a first-ever appearance among the elite of Saudi football, prompting an active summer in the transfer market.

With Al-Bukhari now added to their goalkeeping options, Diriyah continue to shape a squad they hope will be competitive enough to retain their status in the Roshn Saudi League beyond their historic debut season.
