Pape Gueye linked with Everton return

Senegal international midfielder Pape Gueye has reportedly reached an agreement with Everton over a possible return to the Premier League, although the transfer remains dependent on negotiations between the English club and Villarreal.

According to Fichajes.net, the 27-year-old has agreed personal terms with Everton as the club looks to bring him back to England.

However, no final agreement has been reached between the two clubs, meaning the move is not yet complete.

Everton are understood to have submitted an offer worth €28 million, with a further €5 million available through potential bonuses, as they attempt to secure the services of the Villarreal midfielder.

Gueye is currently under contract with Villarreal until June 2028 after joining the Spanish side on a free transfer in 2024 following the end of his spell with Olympique de Marseille.

The Senegalese midfielder enjoyed a strong season in La Liga, making 30 appearances for Villarreal and contributing five goals and two assists.

His performances helped increase his reputation and attracted interest from clubs looking to strengthen their midfield options.

His form also continued on the international stage with Senegal during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Gueye played a key role in the Lions’ impressive 5-0 victory over Iraq, scoring twice and providing an assist to underline his importance to the national team.

The midfielder has attracted interest from several clubs in recent transfer windows, including teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

However, Everton now appear to be leading the race for his signature as they look to complete a return to English football.

Gueye previously spent time in the Premier League before moving to Spain, and a potential switch to Everton would mark a return to familiar surroundings.

Despite reports of an agreement between the player and the club, negotiations between Everton and Villarreal remain ongoing. No official announcement has been made by either side, with discussions expected to continue in the coming weeks.

The outcome of those talks will determine whether Gueye makes his return to England or remains with Villarreal for the next stage of his career.

For now, the Senegal international’s future remains one of the key transfer stories involving Premier League clubs this summer.
