Karim Adeyemi: Germany-Nigeria winger joins Barcelona from Dortmund in €22m deal

Germany-Nigeria forward Karim Adeyemi has joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a €22m transfer. The 24-year-old right winger has signed a contract at the LaLiga club until 30 June 2031.

Adeyemi, a left-footed attacker who can operate across the front line, leaves Dortmund after four years in German football’s top flight, where he built a reputation for direct running and goal threat. His move to Spain comes with a current market valuation of €40m.

The Munich-born player first arrived at Dortmund in July 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg for €30m, after a prolific spell in Austria that brought three league titles and three Austrian Cups. He previously spent time at feeder side FC Liefering, where he also collected a Fritz Walter medal in recognition of his performances at youth level.

In the Bundesliga and 2. Liga combined, Adeyemi has made more than 130 league appearances, scoring 38 goals and providing 29 assists. He also has significant European experience, with 16 goals and seven assists in 48 Champions League matches, as well as appearances in the Europa League and Club World Cup.

Adeyemi’s honours include being named Best Young Player at Dortmund in 2023, the Golden Boy (Web) award, and a European Under-21 Championship title with Germany in 2021. He was also top scorer in the 2021-22 Austrian Bundesliga season.

The forward now begins a long-term spell in Spain after completing his permanent switch from Dortmund to Barcelona.
