Rani Khedira: Union Berlin midfielder linked with Trabzonspor move

Tunisia and Germany midfielder Rani Khedira of Union Berlin is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor. The 32-year-old defensive midfielder, valued at around €2m, is understood to be on the radar of the Black Sea club as they look to add experience to the centre of their midfield.

Khedira has been a mainstay in the Bundesliga, making 287 appearances in Germany’s top flight and bringing more than 22,000 minutes of league experience. Operating primarily in defensive midfield and favouring his right foot, he has built a reputation for his durability and positional discipline across spells with Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, Augsburg and now Union.

Union signed Khedira on a free transfer from Augsburg in July 2021, and he has since featured for the club in domestic and European competition, including the Europa League, Conference League and Champions League. His time in Berlin has coincided with Union’s rise onto the continental stage, with the midfielder regularly trusted in high-intensity fixtures.

Born in Stuttgart and standing at 1.88m, Khedira holds both Tunisian and German nationality, adding potential appeal in different markets and competitions. Any move to Trabzonspor would represent his first venture outside Germany after a career spent entirely in the Bundesliga system from youth level onwards.

Khedira’s current contract situation at Union Berlin has not been publicly clarified, leaving open the possibility of negotiations should Trabzonspor decide to firm up their interest.
