Emmanuel Michael: Nigerian left-back joins Admira Wacker on loan from LASK

Nigerian defender Emmanuel Michael has joined Austrian side Admira Wacker on loan from Bundesliga champions LASK. The 20-year-old left-back moves to the 2. Liga club for the 2026-27 season in a temporary transfer agreed between the two sides.

Michael, a left-footed full-back, arrives in Modling after a breakthrough spell with LASK, where he was part of the squad that won both the Austrian Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup in the 2025-26 campaign. He made eight league appearances for the Linz club, as well as featuring in the Austrian Cup and in regional league action during his time there.

Admira Wacker will be Michael’s second club in Austria after he initially came into the LASK system via Amateure OO in the 2024-25 season. Before moving to Europe, he played in the Nigerian Professional Football League with Gombe United, scoring once in six league appearances, having joined them on loan from Simoiben FC.

Michael’s current market valuation stands at around €500,000 and he remains under contract with LASK until 30 June 2027. The agreement includes a scheduled return to the Linz club at the end of his loan when the 2026-27 campaign finishes.

The Nigeria-born defender officially joined Admira Wacker on 23 July 2026 and will spend the season in Austria’s second tier before his loan from LASK concludes on 30 June 2027.
