CAF awaiting CAS verdict on disputed AFCON 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal – Motsepe

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football is awaiting the final ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the disputed outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal.

Speaking on the matter on Wednesday while addressing the media in Johannesburg, Motsepe said CAF would respect the legal process before making any further decisions regarding the continental championship.

“Regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, we are awaiting the final decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concerning the dispute from the AFCON final between Morocco and Senegal.”

The CAF president’s comments provide the latest update on one of the most significant legal cases in recent African football, with the governing body maintaining that it will not take further action until CAS delivers its verdict.

The dispute stems from the AFCON 2025 final involving Morocco and Senegal, with the case having been referred to the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport for adjudication.
