Wydad denies Simba SC claim on Suleimani Mwalimu, insists player remains under contract

Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have rejected claims from Tanzanian side Simba SC that midfielder Suleimani Mwalimu will remain with the club, insisting that the player is still part of their plans for the upcoming season.

The clarification comes after Simba SC published a statement suggesting that Mwalimu would continue with the Tanzanian club. However, Wydad have moved quickly to dispute the announcement, stating that no agreement has been reached regarding the player’s continued stay at Simba.

In an official response, Wydad confirmed that they have not signed any loan or temporary transfer agreement with Simba SC for Mwalimu’s services.

“Wydad Athletic Club confirms that no loan or temporary transfer agreement has been concluded for Suleimani Mwalimu with Simba SC,” the club stated.

The Moroccan club further stressed that the player remains tied to Wydad through a valid contract and is expected to return to the squad as part of preparations for the new campaign.

According to Wydad, Mwalimu remains included in the technical staff’s plans, with the coaching team expecting him to rejoin the squad based on the schedule established by the club.

The Casablanca-based side also warned that it reserves the right to take any necessary measures to protect its interests should there be any actions or statements that contradict the contractual situation of the player.

Wydad has urged supporters and members of the media to rely only on information released through the club’s official communication platforms to avoid the spread of inaccurate reports.

The dispute now leaves uncertainty over Mwalimu’s immediate future, with both clubs presenting different positions regarding the player’s status ahead of the new season.
