Yassine Zakir: Dutch-Moroccan winger joins Al-Bukiryah on free transfer from Metaloglobus

Dutch-Moroccan winger Yassine Zakir has joined Saudi First Division League side Al-Bukiryah on a free transfer from Romanian club Metaloglobus. The 29-year-old left-sided attacker makes the switch after four seasons in Romania’s Liga 2, adding width and experience to the Saudi club’s forward line.

Zakir arrives in Saudi Arabia with a market value of €300,000 and a track record of steady output across multiple competitions. Comfortable on the left wing but preferring his right foot, he will offer Al-Bukiryah an option to cut inside from wide areas and contribute both in build-up play and the final third.

During his time at Metaloglobus, Zakir featured prominently in Liga 2 and its play-off and play-out rounds, as well as the Romanian Cup. Across his Romanian stint he accumulated more than 70 appearances in all domestic competitions, contributing goals and assists and regularly surpassing the 2,000-minute mark in league campaigns.

Born in Amsterdam and eligible for both the Netherlands and Morocco, Zakir developed in Dutch youth football before moving into the senior game. He previously played for Telstar in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie after joining them as a free agent, building on earlier spells in the Dutch lower leagues.

His record includes productive stretches in the SuperLiga and Derde Divisie, where he reached double figures for goals across those competitions, while also featuring in national cup tournaments in both the Netherlands and Romania.

Zakir’s move to Al-Bukiryah is a permanent free transfer from Metaloglobus, completed on 22 July 2026.
