Promise David: Stuttgart eye move for Union SG and Canada-Nigeria striker

Canada-Nigeria forward Promise David of Union Saint-Gilloise is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart, with the German club weighing up a deal for the 25-year-old centre-forward. The interest is at an early stage, with the likelihood of a transfer currently rated at 35%, and no agreement in place between the clubs.

David, who was born in Brampton, Ontario, has emerged as one of Union SG’s key attacking players since joining the Belgian champions from Estonian side Kalju FC in July 2024 for a reported €600,000 fee. His form in Belgium’s top flight, where he has scored regularly in the Jupiler Pro League and its championship play-offs, has drawn attention from higher-profile leagues.

The 1.95m striker’s performances in Union SG’s successful 2024-25 campaign, which brought a Belgian league title and a domestic cup win, have further underlined his impact at the Brussels club. He has also gained exposure in European competition, featuring in both the Champions League and Europa League, adding to his appeal for clubs seeking a physically imposing centre-forward with experience across different competitions.

Stuttgart’s interest comes at a time when David’s market value has risen sharply to €17m following his first season in Belgium. Any move is likely to be complicated by his long-term contract in Brussels, which runs until 30 June 2029, putting Union SG in a strong position should formal talks begin.
