Djibril Gueye: Senegal defender at CD Leganes B linked with Sporting move in Liga Portugal switch

Senegal centre-back Djibril Gueye of CD Leganes B is being linked with a move to Portuguese side Sporting, with the 19-year-old emerging as a reported target for the Liga Portugal club. The defender, who stands at 1.95m, is under contract with Leganes’ B team until 30 June 2027 but has attracted interest after breaking into senior football in Spain.

Gueye only joined Leganes B on 1 July 2025 but has already featured across league and cup competitions, including minutes in LaLiga2 and the Copa del Rey. His early exposure at that level has coincided with Sporting’s reported move to assess defensive options for the coming seasons.

Although he is registered with the B team, Gueye has already played competitive first-team football for Leganes, including a start in the Copa del Rey. His combination of size and experience in Spain’s professional pyramid at a young age has placed him on the radar of clubs outside Spain, with Sporting among those now linked.

Leganes, who hold Gueye on a deal running for another year beyond the upcoming season, are in a secure position contractually and would not be under pressure to sell. Any formal approach from Sporting would therefore require the Portuguese club to negotiate with the Spanish side to prise the defender away before the end of his current agreement.
