Abderraouf Arib: Algeria midfielder leaves ES Setif to become free agent
Algerian defensive midfielder Abderraouf Arib has left ES Setif and become a free agent after his departure from the Ligue 1 club was finalised on 22 July 2026. The 21-year-old, who was born in Guidjel and stands at 1.86m, is now without a club following the end of his spell with the Algerian top-flight side.
Arib had stepped up to ES Setif’s senior squad in July 2025 after progressing through the club’s youth ranks. He was promoted from ES Setif’s U21 team ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, earning a place in the first-team set-up for the following season.
Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder and favouring his right foot, Arib made his senior bow in domestic cup competition. He featured in the Coupe d’Algerie, making one appearance and playing 11 minutes during his time with the first team.
His exit from ES Setif brings to a close a one-year spell in the senior squad, having come through the club’s academy structure. With his contract now ended, the Algeria youth is listed without a club as he considers the next step in his professional career.
Arib’s move away from ES Setif has been registered as a free departure, leaving the midfielder unattached ahead of the new season.
