Djibril Gueye: Senegal defender at CD Leganes B linked with move to RB Leipzig
Senegalese centre-back Djibril Gueye of CD Leganes B is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, with the German club monitoring the 19-year-old’s development in Spain.
Gueye, a 1.95m defender who joined Leganes’ B team on 1 July 2025, is under contract with the Spanish club until 30 June 2027, meaning any deal would require Leipzig to negotiate a transfer fee rather than wait for his deal to run down. The interest comes as Leipzig continue to scour European development squads for emerging defensive options capable of stepping into a first-team environment.
The right-footed centre-back has already had a taste of senior competitive football with Leganes, featuring in LaLiga 2 and the Copa del Rey. He has made a league appearance in Spain’s second tier this season, alongside two outings in the Copa del Rey, reflecting his gradual integration beyond the B team set-up. He has also appeared in promotion play-off action to the Segunda Federacion, further adding to his competitive experience.
Leganes are expected to be in a strong position at the negotiating table given the length of Gueye’s current deal and his recent arrival at the club. Leipzig, meanwhile, are assessing whether to advance their interest in the teenager in the current window or track his progress over the coming season, with Gueye’s contractual situation in Spain providing Leganes with leverage in any potential talks.
