Abdoulaye Seck: Senegal defender joins Al-Faisaly on free transfer from Maccabi Haifa

Senegal centre-back Abdoulaye Seck has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Faisaly on a free transfer from Maccabi Haifa.

The 34-year-old, who was part of Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad in 2022, moves after four seasons in Israel, where he became a key figure in Maccabi Haifa’s defence and collected multiple domestic honours. He arrives in Saudi Arabia as a free agent, with his market value most recently assessed at around €400,000.

Seck, born in Mbour and standing at 1.92m, leaves Haifa having been named Israel’s Defender of the Year in 2022-23 and Best Foreign Player in 2023, while also helping the club win the Israeli championship and Super Cup. He featured regularly in both the Ligat ha’Al and its championship round, as well as in domestic cup competitions last season.

The right-footed centre-back also brings substantial European experience to Al-Faisaly. Over his career he has appeared in the Champions League, Europa League and the Europa Conference League, including group and qualifying stages, scoring in the Champions League proper and amassing more than 20 games across UEFA competitions.

Before his move to Israel in 2022, Seck spent four years with Royal Antwerp in Belgium, having joined them from Norwegian side Sandefjord. Earlier spells in Norway and in Senegal with clubs including Diambars FC and Casa Sports shaped a career that has taken him from West Africa to several European leagues.

Seck’s switch from Maccabi Haifa to Al-Faisaly on a free transfer is confirmed as a permanent move.
