Alioune Mbaye: Senegal striker joins Naft Missan on free transfer from Al-Baqaa

Senegalese centre-forward Alioune Mbaye has joined Iraqi side Naft Missan on a free transfer from Jordanian club Al-Baqaa.

The 24-year-old moves to the Iraq Stars League after a productive spell in the Jordanian Pro League, where he scored six goals and provided two assists in 12 appearances. Standing at 1.85m and favouring his right foot, Mbaye is expected to operate through the middle of the attack for his new club.

Mbaye arrives in Iraq with a market value of €75,000 and signs for Naft Missan after less than a year with Al-Baqaa, whom he joined in February 2026, also as a free agent. His form in Jordan, averaging a goal every 161 minutes, underlined his impact in a relatively short time in the league.

Before moving to the Middle East, Mbaye played for Gasogi United, having initially joined the Rwandan side in January 2025 following a brief period without a club. He previously spent time in North Africa with Club Africain in Tunisia, competing in Ligue 1 and the promotion play-offs after leaving Senegalese outfit ASC Niarry in 2021.

Born in Thies on 3 April 2002, Mbaye has built a varied early career across Senegal, Tunisia, Rwanda and Jordan, and now adds Iraq to the list of countries in which he has played senior football.

Naft Missan’s acquisition of Mbaye on a free transfer from Al-Baqaa is confirmed as part of their 2026–27 squad building.
