Lille push new three-year contract for Ethan Mbappe amid rising transfer interest

Lille are stepping up efforts to tie down Ethan Mbappe with a new three-year contract, as the club looks to protect one of their most exciting young talents.

Journalist Abdellah Boulma reports that talks are ongoing, with Lille keen to send a strong signal amid growing interest from other European sides who have inquired about the midfielder’s situation.

Mbappe is understood to feel very comfortable at the club and content with his development environment, but he and his entourage are in no rush, carefully weighing up all options before committing to fresh terms. Lille’s hierarchy, however, want to move quickly and finalise an agreement before rival clubs turn their initial interest into formal offers later in the window.

In the summer of 2024, following the expiry of his youth contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Ethan Mbappe joined Lille on a free transfer, signing a three-year professional deal until June 2027.

This move allowed the 17-year-old central midfielder to seek greater opportunities for first-team integration, building on his limited senior exposure at PSG. Now, Lille hope an extension will both reward his progress and ensure that any future move comes on their terms, reflecting his rising value in the European market.
