Zakaria Bakkali: Belgium-Morocco winger leaves Ittihad Tanger to become free agent

Belgium-Morocco winger Zakaria Bakkali has left Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger and is now a free agent after his contract with the Botola Pro Inwi club came to an end. The 30-year-old, who operates predominantly on the left flank, moves on after a six-month spell in Tangier.

Bakkali had rejoined club football with Ittihad Tanger in January 2025 following a previous period without a team, adding top-flight Moroccan experience to a career that has taken in major European leagues. His departure returns him to the open market, with his current market value listed at €125,000.

Born in Liege and right-footed, the 1.70m attacker has previously played in La Liga, the Eredivisie and the Belgian Pro League. He first emerged at PSV, progressing from youth level to the first team in Eindhoven before earning a move to Valencia in 2015. Spells at Deportivo La Coruna and then RSC Anderlecht followed, including a loan move to Beerschot VA.

Across his senior career, Bakkali has collected league appearances in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Morocco, as well as featuring in European competition with outings in both the Europa League and Champions League qualifying rounds. His experience has primarily come as a wide forward capable of contributing goals and assists from the flanks.

Bakkali most recently played in Morocco’s top division with Ittihad Tanger and now officially joins the pool of unattached players ahead of the new campaign.
