Manqoba Mngqithi arrives in Tanzania to begin new role at Yanga SC

South African tactician Manqoba Mngqithi has officially arrived in Tanzania to begin his new role as head coach of Young Africans SC (Yanga) ahead of the 2026/27 football season.

The arrival of the experienced coach marks the start of a new chapter for the Tanzanian champions, who have placed their ambitions on Mngqithi’s shoulders as they look to maintain domestic dominance and make a stronger impact in continental competition.

Mngqithi was recently appointed as the successor to the previous technical leadership at Yanga and is expected to immediately begin preparations for the upcoming campaign.

The South African mentor will oversee the club’s pre-season programme as the team targets success in both the Tanzanian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach arrives in Dar es Salaam with a wealth of experience, having spent several years competing at the highest level of South African football and on the African continent.

His knowledge of CAF competitions was one of the factors that attracted him to Yanga, as the club aims to establish itself among Africa’s elite teams.

Yanga management has handed Mngqithi the responsibility of building on the club’s recent success while improving their performances in continental football.

The Tanzanian giants are expected to begin their pre-season activities with medical assessments before full training sessions commence under their new coach.

With the 2026/27 season approaching, supporters of the club will be eager to see how Mngqithi’s tactical approach transforms the team and whether he can guide Yanga to further domestic glory while achieving a memorable CAF Champions League campaign.
