West Ham eye Watford winger Nestory Irankunda in summer transfer move

Australia and Tanzania international Nestory Irankunda, currently at Watford, is the subject of transfer interest from West Ham as the Premier League side explore attacking reinforcements. The 20-year-old right winger is under contract at Vicarage Road until 30 June 2030, meaning Watford are in a strong position to demand a significant fee for any deal.

Irankunda’s value has risen to around €8m following his first season in English football, where he has featured regularly in the Championship for Watford after joining from Bayern’s reserve setup in July 2025 for €3m. His performances at club level have been complemented by an eye-catching World Cup campaign this year, in which he scored once in four appearances and featured in the starting XI in most of his nation’s matches.

Before moving to England, Irankunda built his reputation in the A-League with Adelaide United, recording 16 goals and eight assists in 55 league games, and later gaining further senior experience with Bayern’s second team and a loan spell at Grasshoppers in Switzerland’s Super League. He was also top scorer in AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifying in 2022/23 with eight goals, underlining his impact at youth international level.

Watford’s stance is expected to hinge on the scale of any offer from West Ham, given the length of Irankunda’s current deal and his status as a saleable asset just one year after his arrival. With no agreement in place, the winger remains tied to Watford on a long-term contract as speculation over a possible move to London continues.
