Youcef Douar: Algeria defender joins USM Khenchela on free transfer from ES Setif
Algerian centre-back Youcef Douar has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif, strengthening the Ligue 1 side’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
The 28-year-old, born in Oran and standing at 1.80m, leaves Setif after two seasons to take on a new challenge with Khenchela. The move, completed on 20 July 2026, comes with Douar valued at around €250,000 at the time of the switch, underlining the significance of securing him without a fee.
Douar operates primarily as a right-footed central defender and brings extensive top-flight experience to his new club. Across his career in Algeria’s Ligue 1, he has made 169 appearances, contributing two goals and one assist while amassing more than 13,000 minutes on the pitch. He also has experience in domestic cup competitions and on the continental stage, featuring in the Algerian Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Before signing for USM Khenchela, Douar had joined ES Setif from Paradou AC, also on a free transfer in July 2024. He previously progressed from Paradou’s youth ranks into their senior side, building his reputation in the Algerian top flight.
Douar’s move to USM Khenchela is a permanent free transfer following the end of his spell at ES Setif.
