Youcef Douar: Algerian defender joins USM Khenchela on free transfer from ES Setif
Algerian centre-back Youcef Douar has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif.
The 28-year-old, born in Oran and standing at 1.80m, moves within Ligue 1 after his contract with Setif came to an end. The deal sees the right-footed defender link up with Khenchela ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with his market value currently estimated at €250,000.
Douar arrives with significant top-flight experience, having made 169 appearances in the Algerian Ligue 1. Primarily used as a central defender, he has also contributed modestly in attack with two goals and one assist, while amassing more than 13,700 minutes of league football.
Before his switch to Khenchela, Douar spent two seasons at ES Setif, whom he joined in 2024 following a free transfer from Paradou AC. He had been promoted to Paradou’s senior side in 2017 after progressing from their under-21 set-up, establishing himself as a regular in domestic competition and earning minutes in continental action.
In addition to his league career, Douar has featured in the Coupe d’Algerie and the CAF Confederation Cup, adding knockout and international club experience to his profile. That breadth of exposure is expected to enhance Khenchela’s defensive options as they prepare for the new season.
Douar’s move to USM Khenchela was completed on 20 July 2026 as a permanent free transfer from ES Setif.
