Yeboah Amankwah: Anglo-Ghanaian defender joins FC Inter from IFK Mariehamn in Veikkausliiga move

English-Ghanaian centre-back Yeboah Amankwah has joined FC Inter from league rivals IFK Mariehamn, strengthening the Turku club’s defensive options in the Veikkausliiga. The 25-year-old, who stands at 1.90m and plays primarily on the right side of central defence, has signed a deal running until 31 December 2026.

Amankwah arrives in Turku after a solid spell with IFK Mariehamn, where he re-established himself in Finland’s top flight. In the current 2026 league campaign he has featured in 12 of 16 possible Veikkausliiga matches, starting in the majority of them, and has contributed one assist while collecting just a single yellow card. He has also been a regular in Mariehamn’s cup fixtures this year, appearing in both the Suomen Cup and the Liigacup.

Born in London and eligible for both England and Ghana, Amankwah moved to IFK Mariehamn in January 2026 following a short period without a club. His performances in the early part of the Finnish season, where he has played more than 1,000 league minutes, helped raise his profile within the division and prompted FC Inter to move for him.

Before arriving in Finland, Amankwah developed in Manchester City’s youth system, progressing from the club’s youth ranks through the Under-18s and Under-23s and gaining senior experience on loan at Rochdale and Accrington. A subsequent transfer to Belgian side Lommel SK and then a spell out of contract preceded his move to Mariehamn.

Amankwah, whose current market valuation is listed at €150,000, now commits to FC Inter until the end of 2026 as he continues his career in the Veikkausliiga.
