Ibrahim Diarra targets fresh start at Barcelona

Ibrahim Diarra is determined to turn the page on a nightmare season and convince Hansi Flick he deserves a place in Barcelona’s plans.

The Malian attacking midfielder has reported back for pre-season in excellent condition after an injury‑ravaged campaign and wants to show why he is considered one of Africa’s brightest young prospects.

His troubles began in the first week of pre-season last summer, when an early injury halted his momentum. A relapse followed, bringing further fitness setbacks that kept him sidelined for most of the year and denied him any real continuity.

Despite this, Barcelona’s hierarchy remain convinced by his talent and have put in place a personalised development plan to protect his body. It combines targeted muscle‑strengthening work with a tailored nutrition programme to reduce the risk of repeat problems.

Diarra, known for his powerful running, sharp link‑up play and eye for goal, was one of the standout performers in Juliano Belletti’s Juvenil A side in 2024/25, helping them shine in the UEFA Youth League.

His next step is still open: he could split the season between Barça Atlètic and the first team, or leave on loan for regular minutes. Flick will use pre-season to watch him closely before deciding the best path forward.
